Cost: $10 per month – free shipping.

2

This month was themed Street Style.

3

The makeup bag this month is a silver faux leather with some studs on one side of the bag.

4

Mitchell and Peach English Growers Flora No. 1 Luxury Hand Cream – 1.1 fl oz
Full size is $27.60
I like the feel of this moisturizer, but I’m not crazy about the scent.

Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser – 1 fl oz
Full size is $13.99
I love that this is fragrance-free and all natural!

5

Crown Brush Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet Brush
Brush is $6.99
I can always use a new brush and this one feels soft and doesn’t seem to have any fall out yet.

Cailyn Art Touch Tinted Lip Gloss in 08 Love Affair – 0.14 fl oz (Full Size)
Full size is $19
This is a really nice color for fall. Because it’s a gloss, it is a little sheer at first, but you can build it to have more color.

Pacifica Natural Water-Proof Eye Pencil in Gunmetal – 0.026 oz
Full size is $11
This eyeliner is a really nice silvery grey and goes on smoothly. I also like that this is a natural product too.

Final Thoughts: This month was a lot better for me than the previous month. There’s just one item, the luxury hand cream, that I wouldn’t use due to the scent. The rest are all winners so far.

Birchbox – September 2014

1

Birchbox is a monthly subscription box of a variety of samples ranging from skincare, haircare, makeup, and non-beauty items. It’s usually 4-5 samples per month. They also offer a men’s subscription box.

Cost: $10 per month – free shipping.

Birchbox was the first subscription box I signed up for. Some of the months are a little hit or miss, but I’ve found some interesting new products through them. I also like that I can mark to not receive fragrance samples each month.

2 3

The theme for September was Fresh Paint. The new box design for this month is really cute. This month you were again able to pick one of your samples, go with a set box, or let Birchbox pick all of your samples for you. I wasn’t as quick to log in to make my selection for this month, so these were all picked by Birchbox. They also had a code for an Anniversary Bonus Box, free with any $50+ purchase with the code: BONUSBOX.

4

Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream – 0.10 fl oz
Full size is $16
This says it works from everything from rough heels to chapped lips. I actually have a sample of this from an older Birchbox that I haven’t gotten around to using yet. So maybe this is a sign to try it out!

Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum  – 0.06 fl oz
Full size is $79
This is a serum to fade dark spots and even skin tone.

5

dr. brandt Pores No More Vacuum Cleaner – 0.25 oz
Full size is $45
I’m really looking forward to using this. I like products by this brand and it says it really cleans out your pores.

TEMPTU S/B Highlighter in Champagne Shimmer – 0.1 fl oz
Full size is $27.50
This is a really nice shimmery color. I’m not sure if it’s too shimmery to pull off for an every day look as a highlighter, but I’ll give it a shot. Otherwise, I’ll use this on my eyes.

6

Whish Shave Cream in Acai Grapefruit – 0.75 fl oz
Full size is $20
This is my second item from this brand that I’ve received in a subscription box. I like the scent of this and it feels moisturizing. We’ll see how well it works with shaving.

ChapStick Hydration Lock – 0.077 oz (Full Size)
Full size is $2.99
This was an add in mass-market discovery. It looks interesting – two ChapSticks, one for day and one for night, in one product.

Final Thoughts: There were some real winners in this box, including the highlighter and dr. brandt mask. I’m not crazy about getting ChapSticks in subscription boxes and have so many lip balm products already, but this was an add in and I know someone who will love using this.

What did you think of Birchbox this month? Are there any items you’d like me to do a more in depth review on?

Cost: Boxes start at $23 plus $7 shipping, but you can purchase different bundle options too.

23

This Memebox is Special #28 All About Eyes. Each of the boxes comes with a card that tells you about the products. This is really helpful, as the product information on the containers isn’t always in English.

4

Sally’s Box Friendly Collagen Eye Patch – 4.5g x 2 ea (Full Size)
Full size is $2
This  is an eye patch that says it has a collagen formula works to tighten up sagging skin and also soother, cool, and replenish the sensitive under-eye area. I’ve seen people review patches like this on YouTube and I’m really excited to try it out myself. It also came with a catalog of other masks from this brand.

5

Cheek Room Eye Shadow in 04 Sweet Pink – 5g (Full Size)
Full size is $8
This is a pretty sheer pink color with a pearl type of shimmer. This says that it’s highly resistant to sebum, water or sweat and maintains the color all day long.

Secret-Stargirl S-Style 2 set in No.12 Princess Eye – 2 Sets of Lashes (Full Size)
Full size is $7
I’ve tried applying false lashes for Halloween before and did a terrible job with it. However, I did have them applied for my wedding and they looked great. So I’m willing to give this a try and see if my last failure was because the lashes were super cheap. These look like they will look pretty natural too.

Cheek Room Curl & Volume Mascara – 8g (Full Size)
Full size is $18
This says it is a long-lasting waterproof mascara. It also says it provides curl and volume, and contains lily-extracts that protect lashes to keep them healthy and strong.

6

MDaida Wonder Eye Volume Filler – 2.7g (Full Size)
Full size is $41

This is a serum for underneath the eyes that works to brighten and treat fine wrinkles and lines.

MDaida Wonder Pen Concealer SPF45 PA++ – 2.7g (Full Size)
Full size is $34

This is a concealer pen to use on eyes, blemishes and other skin imperfections. You can also use it to highlight dull and darkenend eye contours.

7

YniPicture-Esque 3 Dots Eyeliner – 0.9ml (Full Size)
Full size is $9

I’ve used an eyeliner with a similar brush before and liked it. It has a three-end brush to fill in between lashes and says it dries quickly for a lasting finish. It also claims to be strong against water, sebum, and sweat but can be removed with just warm water.

Karadium Line Hero Auto Gel Liner Pencil in 05 Silver White – 2.5g (Full Size)
Full size is $12

This is a really smooth eyeliner in a shimmery white. It glided on really nice. It says that it takes 10 seconds to dry and then is entirely waterproof.

Final Thoughts: I really liked this Memebox, although I was a little nervous about getting a lip box because I don’t tend to wear really crazy colors on my lips. I’m more more open to experimenting with eye colors. These were all really nice and wearable colors.

What did you think of the Memebox? Are there any items you’d like me to do a more in depth review on?

Memebox Superbox #49 All About Lips

1

Memebox is a Korean beauty box. Instead of a traditional monthly subscription box, they create individual boxes around different themes and you can pick which ones you would like to purchase.

Cost: Boxes start at $23 plus $7 shipping, but you can purchase different bundle options too.

23

This Memebox is Superbox #49 All About Lips. Each of the boxes comes with a card that tells you about the products. This is really helpful, as the product information on the containers isn’t always in English.

4

Very Six 6 Seconds Kissing Lip Glass – 10ml (Full Size)
Full size is $17
This says that it’s a tint meets a gloss that brings out the best color from your lips. You apply it, wait 6 seconds, and then see a brighter, more colorful glow. I’ve tried this and it’s certainly not a drastic color at all. It feels nice on the lips and goes on clear, so it seems more like a clear gloss to me, but it did change the color of my lips to be a little rosier.

Shara Shara Petit Friend Tint Balm OR01 Crown Orange – 20g (Full Size)
Full size is $8
This balm has really cute packaging. The crown is a pink lip tint and the area around it is a lip balm. It says you can use it individually or together, but it seems like it would be kind of awkward to swipe your finger just in the balm. It feels moisturizing and is a very light color that I don’t think shows up on my lips at all. But it smells great, so that’s always a perk!

5

Cheek Room Lip Tint in 02 Orange – 8ml (Full Size)
Full size is $10
This is a nice sheer lip tint. It says orange, but it’s not a super orange shade and is a bit more on the coral side. It says it’ll stay on your lip for 2-3 hours without needing to reapply it.

Cheek Room Color Lips in 02 Pink – 4g (Full Size)
Full size is $10
The color in the tube looked like a really bright pink, so I was a little nervous, but it doesn’t go on as brightly. So it’s certainly a more wearable pink for me. The description says it adds vivid coloration to the lip and has a smoothing and hydrating effect.

6

Royal Nature Paint Mousse Lip Lacquer in 03 B410 Xo Baby – 5ml (Full Size)
Full size is $24

I swatched this and it’s a pretty pink color and felt nice and not sticky. This says it’s a mousse-type lip lacquer that has a matte silky finish and is supposed to last all day long.

RiRe Tick Tock Lip Gloss in 05 Red Beso – 3.5g (Full Size)
Full size is $18

I really like this red! It says the glossy color is supposed to last for a long time. The applicator is strange – I opened it first and thought it was broken because I just saw a stick with no applicator tip. But I read the description and saw that you have to push a button on the top of the lid to have the brush come out and when you close the lid it pushes the brush back in again.

Final Thoughts: I really liked this Memebox, although I was a little nervous about getting a lip box because I don’t tend to wear really crazy colors on my lips. I’m more more open to experimenting with eye colors. These were all really nice and wearable colors.

Birchbox Mass Appeal Limited Edition Box

1

Birchbox is a monthly subscription box of a variety of samples ranging from skincare, haircare, makeup, and non-beauty items. It’s usually 4-5 samples per month. They also offer a men’s subscription box.

Cost: $18 for this limited edition box – free shipping.

Birchbox was the first subscription box I signed up for. Some of the months are a little hit or miss, but I’ve found some interesting new products through them. I also like that I can mark to not receive fragrance samples each month.

23

This is a limited edition box for CEW. Birchbox had this Mass Appeal box and a Prestige Headliners – I bought both of them.

4

Simple Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF 15  – 4.2 oz (Full Size)
Full size is $10.99
This says it’s good for sensitive skin, which is perfect for me. I like that it has SPF in it too.

Dove Go Fresh Restore Body Wash – 1.8 oz
Full size is $8.99
I like Dove body washes, but don’t tend to buy full sized bottles. I mainly get them for traveling or a gym bag. So this will be perfect for that.

TRESemme Keratin Smooth Keratin Infusing Serum – 3.3 oz (Full Size)
Full size is $5.99
This is another brand where I’ve used their products, but not this exact one. I’ve liked the other products I’ve used from this brand, so I’m looking forward to this one too.

5

Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Lip Gloss in Spring Splendor – 6 ml (Full Size)
Full size is $8.99
I love Burt’s Bees products and this is such a pretty color.

Vaseline Lip Therapy Rosy Lips – 0.25 oz (Full Size)
Full size is $2.29
The packaging for this is so cute!

LÓreal Paris Voluminous Butterfly Mascara – 0.22 oz (Full Size)
Full size is $6.89
Mascaras are fun to play around with and the brush on this is really different. I need to finish up some of the ones I have open already before checking this out.

Final Thoughts: This box was pretty interesting, especially because the products in it are so affordable if I find a new favorite.

Birchbox Prestige Headliners Limited Edition Box

Birchbox had this Prestige Headliners box and a Mass Appeal box – I bought both of them.

4

Fekkai Brillant Glossing Creme  – 2 oz
Full size is $19.99
This creme is designed to make your hair shiny and frizz-free. I have curly hair, so that’s always useful.

Josie Maran Cosmetics 100% Pure Argan Oil Light – 0.16 oz
Full size is $48
My problem with oils is they usually feel pretty greasy to me. I like that this says it’s ultralightweight, so I’ll give it a try.

COOLA Environmental Repair Plus Radical Recovery After-Sun Lotion  – 0.5 oz
Full size is $32
This would’ve been useful earlier in the summer when I did get a little bit of a burn! I’ll be saving this to try next summer, just in case.

philosophy Miracle Worker Overnight  – 0.4 oz
Full size is $68
I like philosophy products and have had some samples of a different Miracle Worker item. This is a night time moisturizer.

5

100% Pure Creamy Nail Polish in Cherry Pop – 0.5 oz (Full Size)
Full size is $12
I like the idea of using a nail polish that’s 5-free and can’t wait to see how well it holds up. It’s a really bright red, which will look nice on my toe nails.

Toe Separators
I don’t usually use these when painting my toe nails because I don’t really like purchasing them, but I’ll use these since I already have them.

Pocket Mirror
A mini mirror.

Final Thoughts: I’m a little mixed with this box. I do like the value of the items and will try it all out. The sizes are good to really test out. It’s mainly just the timing with some of the items for me, like the bright red nail color and the after-sun lotion, which would’ve been better earlier in the summer for me.

ipsy – August 2014

1

ipsy is a monthly subscription of beauty and makeup items. Each month you receive 4-5 full size or deluxe side products, as well as a makeup bag.

Cost: $10 per month – free shipping.

3

This month was themed Beauty Schooled.

2

The makeup bag this month has a plastic feel and is white with orange polka dots. It’s kind of cute, but still has a plastic smell and is an odd shape for a makeup bag. I may use it to put some of my travel sized products in for my gym bag because it feels like it would clean up easy in case of a spill.

4

Urban Decay Perversion Mascara – 0.1 oz
Full size is $22
The before and after pictures of this look great and I usually like Urban Decay items.

J. Cat Beauty Flying Solo Eye Shadow in Half Naked – 0.09 oz (Full Size)
Full size is $2.99
This has a nice light wash of color. We’ll see how well it holds up after a day of wearing it.

5

Klorane Extra-Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk – 1.06 oz
Full size is $19.50
I always hear people raving about dry shampoo and I’m on a quest to find one that I think works with my hair and doesn’t have an awful scent. So this will get used.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More – 0.25 fl oz
Full size is $45
This is a mattifying pore refiner primer. I can always use this.

Jersey Shore Sun Mongongo Lip Balm – 0.15 oz (Full Size)
Full size is $5.50
I like that this is all natural, but I’ll be giving it away to someone else. I just have so many lip balms already and tend to stick with the same couple that don’t end up drying out my lips, so I probably wouldn’t get around to using this more than once or twice.

Final Thoughts: This month was kind of a dud for me. I saw what some other people got in their bags and I wish I had received some of that over what I got. The samples were a little small compared to how many full sized products I’ve received before and I’m not a fan of plain lip balm as a sample.

What did you think of ipsy this month? Are there any items you’d like me to do a more in depth review on?

Hatchery Tasting Box – August 2014

1

Hatchery Tasting Box is a monthly subscription box that sends you gourmet condiments, sauces, etc.

Cost: $25 per month – free shipping.

2

Each box comes with a tasting guide which has information about the company, the product, a recipe, and links to recipes for the other products. I like that you can either just do your own thing with the items sent or have some ideas with their recipes. I purchased a 3 month subscription of this through a Living Social deal.

3

Our Sundae Dates Fudge Sauce
Full size is $13
This suggests spooning it over ice cream or fruit. There’s also a recipe for a Grilled S’mores Pizza, which is really tempting to try!

Gourmegg Classy Classic
Full size is $9
It’s a seasoning for eggs. The recipe is for an Avocado Egg Salad. My husband doesn’t like egg salad, so I may see what else I can do with this.

4

Acala Farms Fresh Cilantro Cottonseed Oil – 1.7 oz
Full size is $11
I’m not a huge fan of cilantro, but my husband is. It suggests putting it in guacamole or over veggies before grilling. I may give that a shot over the recipe, which is an Edamame, Avocado, and Radish Salad.

Liber & Co Pineapple Gum Syrup – 2 oz
Full size is $12
I had no idea what gum syrup is, but it mentions adding it into tequila or rum cocktails or iced tea for a non alcoholic drink. I’ll be trying it with all of those options. The recipe is for a Pineapple Sage Daiquiri.

5

Sweet Heat Gourmet Asian Bulgogi BBQ Sauce – 1.7 oz
Full size is $9
I love BBQ sauce and this one sounds amazing. I’m not a fan of fish, so I won’t be trying their recipe for Salmon Bulgogi with Avocado-Mango Salsa, but I will try this on some other meat. It says it’s also good for steak, chicken, and pork.

Red Duck Foods Curry Ketchup – 2 oz
Full size is $8
This also sounds amazing and a great twist to standard ketchup. It says it pairs well with sweet potato fries. The recipe is for Indian-Spiced Burgers on Grilled Naan.

Final Thoughts: Overall, I really love this subscription box so far! I really enjoy cooking and my husband and I are trying to eat better and eat at home more often, so he’ll love being a taste tester for this.
